Updates

Under links on the right, I have now included my Workshop Module Designed for US Audience. This includes two pieces. The first is a lesson plan for engaging students to think about another culture by reading a text from a native writer, then adapting the writing style to a piece of writing about their own culture. The second item is an outline for a staff presentation I conducted upon my return. It begins with an overview of my trip including the purpose and the cultural highlights. The meat of the presentation is about the educational system and the differences I noticed in my brief visit. This presentation is designed to not only share aspects of the Egyptian Educational System, but also to engage our teachers in thoughtful self-reflection about our educational system. Please note: the aspects of their system that I have chosen to highlight are those that are the most different from ours. While in the classes at EGC, I was most struck by the similarities of the students, teachers, and classroom methods used.
